Weekly Camps starting June 15 to August 14 (mini camps Canada Day week)

8:30-4:30 for children aged 5-11

Camp Costs: 5 days ($350); 4 days ($280); 2 days ($160)

 COME DANCE WITH ME
Move, create, and play with your little one in this guided class! Come engage in this once a week, 30 minute session, taught by one of our senior dancers. This class helps introduces dance through directed play, story-telling, obstacle courses, and set exercises that encourage creative movement!
  • Ages 2 to 3
  • Offered in two separate terms: 
    • Term 1 runs from September to December 
    • Term 2 runs from January to May
  • Parent participation is required

PRIMARY 1
Introducing the concepts of space, direction, and timing through directed play, story-telling, improvisation, and set exercises that encourage creative movement. 
  • Ages 3 to 4
  • Offered in two separate terms: 
    • Term 1 runs from September to December 
    • Term 2 runs from January to May
There are performance opportunities:
Term 1 (December): The Nutcracker (must be 3+ years to audition) 
Term 2 (May): Year-End Performances 

PRIMARY 2

FIRST STEPS
Dancers can begin their first steps into formal dance training with our 2 fusion class options: Ballet/Tap and Broadway/Jazz. Explore one, or both classes, and expand your dancer's love for dance! 
  • Ages 6 to 7, unless otherwise recommended by NLSD Staff 
  • Dance shoes required: both Ballet and Tap shoes for the Ballet/Tap fusion, and Jazz shoes for the Broadway/Jazz fusion class
  • Dancers will start to learn basic movements of Ballet, Jazz, and Tap, as well as develop their performance confidence with Broadway 
  • There are multiple performance opportunities a season presented on the Yukon Arts Centre Main Stage:
    • The Nutcracker in December (must be enrolled in a Ballet/Tap class to audition for
    • Year-End Performances in May

NOVICE
Dancers can expand their technical training while also strengthening their performance quality and confidence. Explore our available Novice level classes and diversify your dancer's love for dance!
  • Ages 8 - 9, unless otherwise recommended by NLSD staff
  • There are multiple performance opportunities a season presented on the Yukon Arts Centre Main Stage:
    • The Nutcracker in December (must be enrolled in a Ballet class to audition

    ELEMENTARY 
    Dancers can expand their technical training while also strengthening their performance quality and confidence. Explore our available Elementary level classes and diversify your dancer's love for dance!
    • Ages 10 to 11, *unless otherwise recommended by NLSD staff
    • There are multiple performance opportunities a season presented on the Yukon Arts Centre Main Stage:
      • The Nutcracker in December (must be enrolled in a Ballet class to audition)
      • Year-End Performances in May
    *If you are a new student to our school and have previous dance experience, please contact us for a placement assessment!

    INTERMEDIATE SENIOR
    Dancers can expand their technical training while also strengthening their performance quality and confidence. Teens looking to build dance experience and skill, this class environment is specifically designed for you!
    • Ages 12 or older (unless otherwise recommended by NLSD staff*)
    • There are multiple performance opportunities a season presented on the Yukon Arts Centre Main Stage:
      • The Nutcracker in December (must be enrolled in a Ballet class to audition
      • Year-End Performances in May
    Pre-Pointe and Pointe work will be integrated and part of the dancers' regular ballet class.

      INTENSIVE PROGRAM   

      *To enrol in any Intensive classes you must be recommended by an NLSD instructor


      Intensive Programs differs from Recreational Programs by offering a more competitive and pre-professional training environment for those displaying promising technical abilities, a hard-working attitude, and motivation in class and rehearsals - as well as wanting to dedicate to a full dance schedule.

       INTENSIVE 1 & 2 
      For dancers seeking to immerse themselves into intensive dance training and a full schedule! Must be recommended by NLSD staff to enrol in our intensive programs, recommendations are based on dancer's technical abilities, attitude, and motivation in class and rehearsals, rather than age.

      Dancers in our intensive 1 & 2 programs will: 
      • Enrol into a minimum of 4 classes: both Intensive Ballets, one Intensive Jazz, and at least 1 other class of the dancer’s choice
      • Attend audition, performance, and workshop opportunities throughout the dance season
      • Attend all scheduled rehearsals throughout the dance season
      • Perform in our main performance opportunities a season presented on the Yukon Arts Centre Main Stage:
        • The Nutcracker in December (audition required)
        • Year-End Performance in May 
      Pre-Pointe & Pointe work will be integrated and part of dancers' regular ballet class. 

      Includes participation in RAD Ballet exam process. RAD Canada schedules Exams in to be completed in our NLSD studios, in February (additional fees are required).

      Opportunities for intensive dancers when recommended:
      • Multiple additional performance, media, and photo-shoot opportunities throughout the dance season
      • Community Shows 
       

      INTENSIVE 3 PROGRAM

      For dancers seeking to immerse themselves into intensive dance training and a full schedule! Must be recommended by NLSD staff to enrol in our intensive programs, recommendations are based on dancer's technical abilities, attitude, and motivation in class and rehearsals, rather than age.


      Dancers in our intensive programs will: 

      • Enrol into a minimum of 5 classes: both Intensive Ballets, one Intensive Jazz, one Intensive Contemporary and at least 1 other class of the dancer’s choice

      SUMMER CAMPS 2026

      We offer weekly camps throughout June, July, and August! Registration is open to all, regardless of dance skill or level.

       

      • Week long camps (no camps on statutory holidays)

      • June to August, with mini camps the week of Canada Day.
      • Focus on active play, creative movement, crafts, exploring the Porter Creek greenbelt, playground time at Jack Hulland and more!

      Cancellation and Payment Policy:

      • Payment required upon registration.
      • Withdrawals up to 3 weeks before camp will be refunded less $50.
      • Withdrawals up to 1 week before camp will be refunded less $75.
      • No refunds within a week before camp starts.
