***Note:  class placement and advancement is based on many factors including a student's strength, commitment, attendance, maturity, mastery of material and artistic development as assessed by the teacher and Principal.  A student's ability to execute and cope with the required material in that level is considered above all else, including age and previous training.  Parents and students should not anticipate annual level advancements.  Students do not automatically advance to a higher level each year.  Ballet classes do not progress at the same pace as traditional academic grades.  It is common for students to repeat levels of study.  Because the range of the criteria for promotion is so diverse, it may be two or more years before a student is ready for advancement to the next level of study.  All students are carefully placed in the class that is fitting to their technique.  The placement is always decided with a child's best interest and advancement in mind ***

Fall Class Schedule 10/11

To Register

Students may register by any of the following methods:

Current and potential students may try out any class at no charge, with the permission of the instructor and at the discretion of the school. NLSD reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment. Should this occur and a student is placed in an alternate class, they will be required to pay any difference in fees. Placement in levels will be at the discretion of the instructor. 

Tuition, Pricing and Payment Policies (2009/10 season)

Annual base rate fees for classes are as follows:

½ hour classes $208.00*
¾ hour classes $292.00*
1 hour classes $376.00*
1 1/4 hour classes $460.00*
1 ½ hour classes $544.00*

*We offer a reduced price for Monday classes, due to the number of holidays that fall on this day through the year.

Additional fees (2010/11 season)

Registration Fee per family……………………………………...……$10.00
Per school year Fundraising Advance per student….....................$50.00

The Fundraising Advance is refundable through the sale of 10 raffle tickets (1 book) per student.

Payment Options


Tuition fees are due upon registration. There are four methods of payment:

Post-dated cheques are due on the first day of every month.

Payment Assistance:
The Kids Recreation Fund (KRF) provided by Sport Yukon offers grants of up to $300 per year which can be applied to dance classes. Applications are available through Sport Yukon. As funds are limited and the process is lengthy, we recommend early application.

Late Fees and NSF Charges:
Two percent interest per month will be calculated on all outstanding fees over 30 days.
There will be a $25 processing fee and 2% monthly interest fee on all NSF cheques..

Refund Policy (2010/11 season)

Refunds will only be permitted for the following reasons:

Application for a refund must be made in writing to the Artistic Director c/o NLSD’s mailing address.

Refunds will be calculated, as of the date of departure or the date medical proof is received, at a rate of $10 per hour for each hour of class time remaining.

There will be no refunds after March 1st of the current dance year. No refunds will be given for missed lessons.
