Dancers at this level can start to explore new dance styles! Explore over 4 dance classes and make the program that works for you and your family’s schedule! Ballet basics are expanded and more dance disciplines are introduced. It is strongly encouraged that students remain in ballet if they are interested in the Accelerated Training Program, as it is a prerequisite for the Intermediate and Advanced classes.
Our Beginner Program is for children age 8+, unless otherwise recommended.
Northern Lights School of Dance offers the following classes in our beginner program:

Beginner Jazz is a classical dance form most often seen in Broadway type shows. Popularized by Bob Fosse, the clean lines and grounded feel of this dance style draws on ballet and modern dance. This particular class focuses on basic jazz steps with an emphasis on performance.
Saturday, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. $380.00 (1 hr)
*Price adjusted to reflect missed class time due to holidays.
Tap is a rhythmical dance form that involves making sound patterns with tap shoes. Tap dancing is a combination of the sophisticated African-American rhythms and the exuberance of Irish step dancing. Elements of ballet, jazz, ballroom and street dancing have found their place in tap repertoire. Tap dancing develops musicality and rhythm, co-ordination, and helps build a technically stronger dancer. This dance will allow you to improve your memory skills while increasing your cardio vascular strength and muscle tone.
Tuesday, 6:15 - 7:15 p.m. $380.00 (1 hr)
Acro dance combines classical dance technique with gymnastics. Students will learn to blend athleticism and choreography to create acrobatic dance as seen in competitive dance, professional dance theater and contemporary circus productions such as those by Cirque du Soleil.
Tuesday, 5:00 – 6:15 p.m. $455.00 (1.25 hr)
